What is the difference between Arabica and Robusta Coffee?
Arabica coffee tree grows on high land (more than 1000m above sea level). Arabica beans are softer taste in taste with a tinge of fruity berry sweetness. Their acidity is higher, with that winey taste that characterizes coffee with excellent acidity. The caffeine is 40% to 50% lower than Robusta. An Arabica bean contains about 1.2% caffeine.
Robusta is hardier plants, capable of growing well at low altitudes of 200m to 800m. Robusta coffee is a sturdy species of coffee bean with low acidity and high bitterness. It is stronger, harsh tasting, with a grain-like overtone and nutty aftertaste. Robusta coffee beans have on average 83% more caffeine than Arabica beans, so making coffee with these beans will produce a strong cup of coffee. Robusta coffee is used primarily in instant coffee, espresso, and as a filler in ground coffee blends.
